it started out when i was13 yr but now i am 17 with still more worse condition. at first i tried some allopathy cream which did’nt work. then i tried several home remedies but permanently did’nt get rid of them. then at 15 i had Ayurvedic long treatment of nearly 3 months ;once they appeared as if they have totally gone but as i left taking the blood purifying tonic ( i nearly drank 8-9 botttles of 400 ml each) they popped out again.even after taking so much of medicine as nothing worked i just left everything and waited for miracle which never happened! then i took Safi -a unani tonic for pimples and acen. but even this did’nt work. now recently i am taking homeopathic treatment from a month and still no improvement! i have lost all the hopes. could this be heriditary coz even my mom had it till the age of 40. earlier i had a very pretty face. and a great crush of everyone. now nobody seems to look at me…. i am so worried will they ever go ..?i eat healthy ,eat no fat or oil, drink lots of water,do exercise but no use. as i come home in sun they become more worse..i feel like crying…help .i think i have tried every branch of medicine …and i was fair too~…….

Hi, I am currently 24 years old and suffer from seborrheic dermatitis since I was 17. At first it wasn’t really severe and didn’t know what it was so I didn’t take any medications or precautions. After it started to get worse my father took me to a dermatologist who gave me some corticosteroids and told me to go back a month later. Since the lotion really helped my case and me not being informed about it’s sever side effects on long term use, I started to buy the medication every time I had finished the tube. This happened over the course of 2 years and I didn’t really develop any severe side effects, except for acne (which I had a year of severe acne) but my skin was free of flares and irritation. I linked the acne to the lotion since I had never suffered acne before but I’m not really sure since many people get acne in high school. I then became aware of the severity of long term use and was really depressed when I stopped using it and my dermatitis came back after a few weeks stronger than ever, covering large parts of the face and scalp. I then went to another dermatologist who recommended I use the topical cream Elidel, and was told I could use it regularly since it didn’t have any reported side effects. I always buy this product in Mexico (I live in the border) since it is dirt cheap and it is the exact same product, brand and everything. It has become a habit ever since, and I cannot stop using it for a week or so without flaring up again. While in use it really helps me and my skin is great, it is oily and shiny sometimes but I prefer that over the redness and dryness of dermatitis. I recently found out that Elidel has been linked to skin cancer and other skin diseases and that it now has a black box stating it’s warnings on the us product, which I didn’t know since the mexican product doesn’t contain this warning. I now have years of use and I wonder if the couple of years of corticosteroids and the other years of Elidel can sum up to a future skin disaster. I am now again very frustrated since it has been my only door to a normal life. Well I would appreciate any info on the subject, and if anybody out there with this condition has any tips I would really really appreciate it. By the way I am now considering homeopathic treatment but we’ll see how that goes. Thanks and God bless.

I don’t follow any homeopathic regiments, nor do i use any homeopathic treatments of any sort, but I do feel I follow the mentality of those who do. I’ve always felt weird about putting medicines into my body (such as things like Tylenol, Ibuprofen, Aspirin, etc) and normally avoid it at all costs. Now that I’m going on the pill I feel really weird about putting hormones into my body, which will stop my body from doing something it’s supposed to do naturally (even though it’s rather convenient that it does stop it) and potentially change my body physically. Do the hormones change your personality in any way? Or your body? Is there anything that might surprise me that happens once I get on the pill?

I have really bad/annoying symptoms when it’s that time of the month and I feel like I’m out of commission for two weeks out of the month, and I really don’t want to be out of commission for half of my life, as it’s already been a problem for 7 or 8 years of my life. I know the pill will help with the irritibality, mood swings, acne, etc, which I am SO looking forward to, cuz I’m generally a very kind hearted person who occasionally lashes out at people (generally my mother, perhaps that’s natural, lol) because I can’t control my hormones. So basically, i’m saying I want to take the pill, and it’s my choice to go on it, I’m just a bit nervous and don’t know what to expect, even though both my mom was on it, and my older sister has been on it for some time, just because this time it has to do with MY body.

One other thing is that I know there are different levels of dosages you can get, ones with less hormones and such in them, and i was just wondering if the ones with less hormones are therefore less effective against the side effects of having your period (mood swings, irritability, etc)?

Sorry for all the concerns and questions, I just want to do this right, as it is my body afterall.
