pelops_dl asked: How about getting some reactions to Steven Novella’s article in the Science Based Medicine blog. What do you think?
http://www.theness.com/neurologicablog/?p=556
Not ONE homeopath can address this article here? C’mon… not even a “Novella is a paid shill of Big Pharma?” or “… WATER MEMORY… QUANTUM WOSSNAMES! … DOUBLE BLIND TRIALS ARE AGAINST THE GENEVA CONVENTION!” or even an ad hominem “You’re SO uneducated! … and a **** sympathizer!”
They have NOTHING. Just like their remedies.

Gary Y asked: “At 10:23am on January 30th, more than three hundred homeopathy sceptics nationwide (UK) will be taking part in a mass homeopathic ‘overdose’ in protest at Boots’ continued endorsement and sale of homeopathic remedies, and to raise public awareness about the fact that homeopathic remedies have nothing in them.”
“Sceptics and consumer rights activists will publicly swallow an entire bottle of homeopathic ‘pillules’ to demonstrate that these ‘remedies’, prepared according to a long-discredited 18th century ritual, are nothing but sugar pills.”
http://www.1023.org.uk/the-1023-overdose-event.php
This part of the 10:23 Campaign. 10 to the power of 23 represents Avogadro’s number, a physics limit of dilution. If you dilute one mole of anything by 10:24, you are not guaranteed to have even one molecule of the original substance left. 10:24 is equivalent to a homeopathic 12C dilution.
Should be a very interesting event! Will it get the message across?
Lightning, the only way that will happen is if the manufacturers are actually adding active ingredients. Which of course is not homeopathy.
Lightning - if it does happen, and it can be shown that it was true homeopathy, then yes - I and a lot of other people will be reviewing our position! Given that the laws of physics will be broken - it’s not likely, but it would be mean a major rethink and a lot of investigation.
Lo_mcg, it’s mainly in town centers across the UK, to be organized by skeptics in the pub groups. More info is on the latest Merseyside Skeptics Society podcast (which is brilliant BTW) at http://www.merseysideskeptics.org.uk/

Irenaaneri, the problem is that Boots have admitted that homeopathy does not work. In their open letter to Booths, the campaign said:
‘The majority of people do not have the time or inclination to check whether the scientific literature supports the claims of efficacy made by products such as homeopathy. We trust brands such as Boots to check the facts for us, to provide sound medical advice that is in our interest and supply only those products with a demonstrable medical benefit.
We don’t expect to find products on the shelf at our local pharmacy which do not work.
Not only are these products ineffective, they can also be dangerous. Patients may delay seeking proper medical assistance because they believe homeopathy can treat their condition.’

dispirited_princess asked: I am interested in starting a career in homeopathic psychology, and am not interested in administering any pharmaceutical medications. I have tried google-ing to see where I would begin, but could only find information on books.
I would like to be able to open my own office and help people with depression, family issues, ect and offer Reiki and other options for homeopathic healing. I am willing to go to school for this, and was wondering if there is anyone who is in this career path that can give me advise on where to start?
Thank you so much!!

Castor oil has been an “old folks” remedy for ions, whether digesting to cleanse colon, or applying on the skin to draw out impurities. What say you homeopaths, alternative medicine gurus, or experienced? Does castor oil have healing properties? Thanks much for the feedback!
