Hylands Homeopathic
ĀŢĿĄŜ↔ĴŮŅĶĬĒ asked:

I love Hyland’s teething tablets and I think they can be an amazing help while my daughter is teething. They take the edge off the pain and have a calming effect on baby to help them fall asleep. The other night I was sooooo tired and my daughter (7 months old) was wide awake. It was about 2 AM and I wasn’t feeling well and really needed some sleep - I’m a single parent. My daughter IS cutting her top 2 teeth but I knew this wasn’t the reason for her being wide awake. SHe was happy as a lark, just not at all sleepy. ANyway, I gave her a couple of the Hyland’s teethign tablets and within ten minutes she was asleep - finally! I have been agonizing about this since. I know Hyland’s are homeopathic and can’t harm her but I still feel like I medicated my own daughter just to get some sleep. Am I a terrible parent? Have any of you ever done anything like this?
Swamy M, I tried to play that video and a message saying it was a “Trojan” appeared. What was on the video?

ive never done this, it doesnt make you a terrible parent. but you cannot medicate your child because you are tired. unfortunately, children have very erratic sleeping patterns and when they wake up and want to chat at 3am, we need to deal with it. at 15mos, my daughter has been awake for 2hrs from 2am the past 3 nights, and it definately does get tiring.

instead, try leaving her in her cot with the light up cot toys going, it works after a while for my daughter, but i would advise continued use of the tablets to have her sleep.

I have never done that, but now that I know that it works!!

    Ha jk.

No you’re not a terrible parent. Your daughter is fine right?
I just wouldnt do it again if I were you….

I don’t think it’s a big deal and I don’t think you’re a terrible parent. I can understand being awfully tired and just wanting to sleep. It’s a very small amount of homepathic medicine anyways. Nothing harmful.

You’re not a terrible parent… it can be really hard when you feel lousy and your baby is not on the same schedule as you! My daughter (10 months) pulled this the other night too! I just brought her into bed with me and she was asleep very quickly.
One of the ingredients of the Hylands tablets is a derivative of chamomile, which can be very calming for babies. They also make a colic tablet which can be useful.

They’re just sugar. Babies like sugar.

“Common homeopathic preparations are often indistinguishable from the pure diluent because the purported medicinal compound is diluted beyond the point where there is any likelihood that molecules from the original solution are present in the final product;[8] the claim that these treatments still have any pharmacological effect is thus scientifically implausible[9][10]…”

“A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down, but only a few drops of sugar-sweetened water quell the crying of new-born babies longer and more effectively than a pacifier does, a new study reports. Its authors found a small dose of sugar water also reduces crying and apparently eases pain among newborns undergoing medical procedures, such as blood collection and circumcision.”

“In a base of Lactose (milk sugar)…”

If you get sick then she could easily get sick also. Getting some sleep is essential to NOT getting sick during the flu/cold season. Even for your daughter it is essential for her to get sleep so she does not get sick.

No, you are not a terrible parent. Why do you think most nursing mothers bring their kids to bed at night? So the kids will sleep and so they don’t have to get up to nurse.

EDIT: Swammy Mom is nothing more than someone who is spamming.
