Avicenna asked:
[Original comment by "SkepDoc": Your shark analogy misses the point. The dilutions of blood they can detect are many orders of magnitude more concentrated than a typical homeopathic remedy. Also...there are scientific studies that demonstrate their abilities beyond any doubt. It also fits well with in known physiology and laws of physics. After 200 years of trying, the same can't be said of homeopathy].
Question:
The homoeopathic remedies I did come across in Europe and Australia [some of them made by the big pharma] were in the strength of 6X to 7X for the basic problems. The one stronger than that was a flu remedy “Oscillococcinum” which is 200C. It got me out of trouble and if a placebo can stop a flu virus cold in its truck, than hurrah to the placebo.
So with the 6X (equal to 3C) which is 1:1.000.000 and 7X which is 1:10.000.000 the molecule of blood in the ocean 1:25.000.000 is a real concentrate…. Please tell me. What is the typical homoeopathic remedy? Or ask the shark?
Meiliena and Keviin - thank you for your comments, but you totally missed the target.
And Erwin please, if I want some articles from the Wikipedia - I know where to find them. I need some honest answers.
Sandy, thank you for the nice mail and I will fix the problem.
It got me out of trouble and if a placebo can stop a flu virus cold in its truck, than hurrah to the placebo.
Rephrasing:
It got me out of trouble and if a placebo can stop a flu virus death in its truck, then
cheers to the placebo.

Gary Y asked: “At 10:23am on January 30th, more than three hundred homeopathy sceptics nationwide (UK) will be taking part in a mass homeopathic ‘overdose’ in protest at Boots’ continued endorsement and sale of homeopathic remedies, and to raise public awareness about the fact that homeopathic remedies have nothing in them.”
“Sceptics and consumer rights activists will publicly swallow an entire bottle of homeopathic ‘pillules’ to demonstrate that these ‘remedies’, prepared according to a long-discredited 18th century ritual, are nothing but sugar pills.”

This part of the 10:23 Campaign. 10 to the power of 23 represents Avogadro’s number, a physics limit of dilution. If you dilute one mole of anything by 10:24, you are not guaranteed to have even one molecule of the original substance left. 10:24 is equivalent to a homeopathic 12C dilution.
Should be a very interesting event! Will it get the message across?
Lightning, the only way that will happen is if the manufacturers are actually adding active ingredients. Which of course is not homeopathy.
Lightning - if it does happen, and it can be shown that it was true homeopathy, then yes - I and a lot of other people will be reviewing our position! Given that the laws of physics will be broken - it’s not likely, but it would be mean a major rethink and a lot of investigation.
Lo_mcg, it’s mainly in town centers across the UK, to be organized by skeptics in the pub groups. More info is on the latest Merseyside Skeptics Society podcast (which is brilliant BTW) at http://www.merseysideskeptics.org.uk/

Irenaaneri, the problem is that Boots have admitted that homeopathy does not work. In their open letter to Booths, the campaign said:
‘The majority of people do not have the time or inclination to check whether the scientific literature supports the claims of efficacy made by products such as homeopathy. We trust brands such as Boots to check the facts for us, to provide sound medical advice that is in our interest and supply only those products with a demonstrable medical benefit.
We don’t expect to find products on the shelf at our local pharmacy which do not work.
Not only are these products ineffective, they can also be dangerous. Patients may delay seeking proper medical assistance because they believe homeopathy can treat their condition.’
