homeopathic healing
Mookie asked:

Castor oil has been an “old folks” remedy for ions, whether digesting to cleanse colon, or applying on the skin to draw out impurities. What say you homeopaths, alternative medicine gurus, or experienced? Does castor oil have healing properties? Thanks much for the feedback!

I was a week overdue with my first child and was being threatened with artificial induction by the hospital staff. At the encouragement of my midwife, I drank 2 oz. of castor oil in a milkshake to jump start my labor. It worked like a charm and I was in labor within the hour of drinking it. I would do this again any day over allowing myself to be induced with other artifical drugs.

You actually already answered your own question. LOL!

Castor Oil is really good for skin softening when used externally, although it technically shouldn’t be used internally very often if at all. The reason it cleans the colon is because it’s forcing diarrhea (which isn’t a good thing), and if you are looking for a colon cleanser, there are a LOT of preferred products for that that are not only safer, but easier to take.
Small amounts of Castor Oil are used in some candies (chocolate, for example) and some flavorings….. but it can also work as a mold inhibitor (which gives you an idea of why it’s not used very often).

Personally, with all I know about it, I would never use it internally in more than a few microliters (unless my doctor recommended it for something)…. but it can give great benefits when used externally.

The easiest way to use castor oil is to massage it into the body on the problem spot, along the spinal cord, the abdomen, or following the lymph drainage patterns.

It can also be taken internally, but is a strong laxative and is used to treat constipation. Despite being a simple procedure, the castor oil pack can produce good results.

For the strongest effect, use a hot oil pack. Physiological effects of the castor oil pack include stimulating the liver, increasing eliminations, relieving pain, increasing lymphatic circulation, improving gastrointestinal function, increasing relaxation and reducing inflammation.

Once a week, rub your skin from head to toe with a mixture of equal parts of olive and castor oils. Then, with the oil still on the skin, soak in a hot bath for 15 minutes. (Be careful getting in and out of the bathtub – the oil will make you slippery!) The bath allows the oil to penetrate to the deepest levels of the skin.

After the bath, go to bed under heavy covers for one hour to sweat out the poisons. The perfect time for an afternoon nap.

Finally, take a hot shower to remove all of the oil. Using a loofah sponge or shower puff is invigorating and helps to remove skin debris.
